Merle proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Geffen Playhouse, her theatrical home. The playhouse is also committed to partnering with inner city schools, veteran programs and countless other community and education engagement programs.
Merle gladly lends her voice and support to Harvest Home which transforms the lives of homeless pregnant women and their children by providing housing, support, and programs that equip women to become great mothers.

Since it was founded, Merle has served on the staff of Lachey Arts providing excellence performing arts training to the youth of Cincinnati.

In her hometown, Merle has been inducted into the Hall of Fame where she spends time giving workshops, speeches, performances and participating in projects to raise arts awareness for the school district.

The Program for Torture Victims rebuilds the lives of torture survivors from over 70 countries who have stood up for freedom, democracy, and human dignity. They help heal the wounds of of thousands of survivors through comprehensive services, empowering them to reenter society, reclaim their identities, and work toward a world without torture.
